Suggest Treatment For Bloating, Gas, Weight Gain Around Upper And Lower Abdomen

Question: Dr,
I have a shot of depo provera shot almost 9 years and I completely gain weight fat specially around my upper and lower abdomen, love handles and back shoulder... I am skinny woman wearing pants petite size 2 and when I have shots of depo I gain weight, hungry all the time I feel bloating, gassy, tired fast sleeplessness, headaches and now I am wearing pants petite size 7 or 9... I tried many things diet pills, exercise, juices, anything. What should I do to be back the way my body is?
Do I have to go doctors visit, which specialist doctor?

By the way, after that depo provera off my menstrual cycle is regular every month and heavy, I think I am not menopause yet.

1. Last depo provera shot was long years ago 1999 .. My body was skinny always and been for life weight 85 to 90lbs, always energetic and strong. Since I had this depo provera shots everythings change and feel swollen and I did mentioned above. It seems the depo provera shots stuck and no released even though Its been long years I am out of it
2. My weight is 102 lbs
3. My height is 4"11
4. Ultrasound? for what is it to test? What type of test?
5. I had shots not to get pregnant
6. menstrual cycle is regular monthly and heavy when I have period and I don't usually have cramps but sometimes

My story is I am skinny as I mentioned to you and I had already 5 children then after gave birth just in few months my body came back to slim as 85 to 90 lbs again and I am energetic, strong and no headaches and even though I eat eat eat I don't put extra pounds in my weight.
Then I am afraid to get pregnant again for number six, so I decided to take depo provera shots, my body start to change to gain more more more weight , I do everything but I cannot melt the fat. I hate this. I am blaming depo provera or there something else that I need to go check up

Hello dear,thanks for the information.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the average weight for your height is 100lbs.But you are 102 lbs.Just slightly on higher side.
So dont worry.Continue healthy lifestyle like exercise for an hour daily and nutritional diet.
The exercisehelps against loss of bone mass in menopause.
On the other side skinny people loose the bone mass more during menopause.
I asked if the heavy bleeding is evaluated by ultrasound or any hormonal tests.
Usually menopause sets between 47-50 years of age.
In case of healthy and women taking good nutritional diet the menopause is delayed naturally.
But the pathological causes of delayed menopause are fibroids,endometriosis or any endometrial abnormalities.
As the bleeding is heavy I suggest you to get an ultrasound done and if necessary D&C to rule out endometrial abnormalities.
Regarding weight you need not worry.Because stress itself cause hormonal imbalance and cause weight gain sometimes.

Hi,

I am still confused. I don't have miscarriage. Since I am teenager I have monthly regular heavy bleeding period until of now I am 51 years old, sometimes it happen XXXXXXX of 3 to 7 days period, sometimes a big clots with it BUT still why I have to go D&C ultrasound for testing?
Is depo provera shot I believe cause of my gaining weight first time I take it and causing me to have hypertension and headaches and some side effects..

In my opinion the depo shots might be the cause of weight gain,headache.
Other sideeffects of depo shots are muscle cramps,breast tumors etc
The hypertension might be the age effect also.
Iam sorry my aim is not to make you tense but Iam just giving you the information regarding delayed menopause.It is not that for sure some abnormalities are causing the menopause delay.It might be the normal effect also.But that will be known by investigations.
