Suggest Treatment For Boils On Legs When Allergic To Iron

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: Since I was about 7 or 8 years old, I guess I have been allergic to iron. I had about 50 boils or like boils on my legs. The teachers would not let me go to school,l I had to stay home. My Mom took me to the doctor and he said i had an allergy to iron, and asked what I have been eating. I loved raisins so I ate a lotof them. He said he thought it was the raisins because there was iron in them. I have had lots of low blood counts, and am tired all the time. I have gone through life like that. About 4 years ago, my blood went quite low and I went to a specialist, and she wanted to give me Iron infusions for several weeks. I told her about the possiblity of an allergy. She said do you want to try it anyway. I always thought I wasn't allergic to it anyway, so I said yes. I had the Infusion over in the morning, about 10:30, came home, made lunch and started getting cold and colder. My husband was home and one of my salels agent came in and we all decided to call the oncoligist...she said to bring me right to the hospital. So, I went to the hospital (her office was in the hospital) she put me right to bed, called a nurse in , I got nauseous and passed out, and was out for about 8 hours. When I came around the Dr. said, well, no more Iron Infusions. She told me to take pre-natal vitamins with iron. It helped build my blood but very slowly. Now my blood is getting low again (it never built up a lot) and is there anything better I can take than the pre-natal vitamins? thank you.

Brief Answer:
Better not to try anything new.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should not try anything new.
Since you are allergic to iron, second reaction if at occur, it will be lethal and life threatening.
There is risk of allergic reaction with new iron supplements. And at your age, second reaction will be very dangerous if at all occur.
So better not to endanger your life.
Continue pre natal vitamin as you are non allergic with it.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
