Since that time my brother is not the same person and definitely has brain damage.. This all took place 25 years ago.. he is now 62 years old and is a big handful to handle.. Last years he had an MRI scan on his brain.. I have not seen the results. But I will ask for them and when I have them I will let you know. Take care and thank you for your kindness.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for following once again in hcm.
Can really understand the hectic schedule of house shifting, may God make it easy for you.
It is really surprising to hear about your brother surviving the event and prolonging up to 25 years, may God give him long and healthy and courageous life.
Brain damage caused due to hypoxia can lead to reversible or irreversible injury, depending on the duration of hypoxia.
Irreversible changes usually occur with hypoxic time being more than 10 to 15 minutes.
Most of mild to moderate injuries survive the event with slow progressive development if there are no other co morbidities.
In my clinical experience with critical Care and anesthesia the prognosis with hypoxic brain damage still remain uncertain, being unpredictable sometimes good, sometimes bad.
With 25 years after the event there is nothing more to do neurologically or self repair.
Please forward the MRI and clinical details,(any neurological deficits).
I hope to get the report as early as possible.
Really appreciate your concern on your brother.
All the best,take care.
Thanks Dr Sabiha(ICU and critical care specialist).
