Suggest Treatment For Breast Cancer Stage 2

Question: Thankyou , I have breast cancer stage 2, it is not Her positive but 8/8 oestrogen positive and has got into the lymph nodes .. Atleast 3 enlarged . The plan is a full masectomy after chemo and radiotherapy and the letrazole . I wondered if this is the best choice . XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
hi and welcome
Detailed Answer:
Yes it is and there is no doubt about this. Aggressive nature of breast cancers require aggressive surgical and oncologic approach. Minority of breast cancers can be treated with lumpectomy or quadrantectomy and this is reserved for stage one cancers without lymph node involvement. This approach may sound unpleasant for you but it is used to achieve complete tumor resection and complete tumor cells removal and this is only chance for complete cure and you have reason to be optimistic. Wish you good health. Regards

I am worried about side effects because I have low blood pressure and had rheumatic fever as a child

Brief Answer:
hi
Detailed Answer:
These two are used for different types of cancer and probably your oncologist chose letrazole because it is proven to be more effective in lobular tumors comparing to tamoxifen. Side effects are similar so there is no need to be confused about these two. It won't have effect on blood pressure, and previous rheumatic fever don't play any role.
