I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You may clean the part with water after boiling it and once the water becomes normal to touch.Give compression bandage after application of antibiotic cream like betadine. Keep the limb elevated and give himibuprofen for pain.
To help you further please tell me -
1.Any chronic disease associated?
2.What medicine is he on ?
Looking forward to your reply to help further.

Not sure what other medications he is on - but do know he takes Coumadin. He has had gout in the past as well as one kidney removed. States he is now having pain in the kidney area. Also having bladder problems. Took him to see a physician at the local clinic on Monday for sinus problem. Was given a medicated nasal spray and Amoxil to prevent any further sinus/cold symptoms from developing further. He did not mention anything to the doctor about his toe at this time of course. That evening he had an episode of confusion - very uncooperative - but did not remember any of this the next day. Is it possible there could be some connection here with kidney problem? His sinus/cold symptoms seem to be clearing up but now he is complaining about the toe. I am at my wits end as I am the care give to both him and my 90 year old mother.
Brief Answer:
Blood tests are highly recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It’s good to see you
I have gone through your reply carefully and really happy the way you are looking after your parents.
My suggestion for him would be getting blood test done for serum uric acid, serum creatinine and blood urea. This will help us in finding his gout and single kidney status.
Meanwhile ask him to drink plenty of fluids along with tramadol as pain killer which is safe on long term use.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your assistance. I will make sure the blood tests are ordered when I take him to see the heart specialist on Monday to have his pace maker checked. He uses extra strength Tylenol as a pain killer now but I will ask the physician to order the other medication you recommended if needed. This has been very helpful to me. Again, many thanks. XXXX
