Suggest Treatment For Bronchiectasis
Question: I have bronchietasis. Some nights after lying down in an attempt to fall asleep, I will start choking on mucus and must spit it out. Is there anything that can be done to cut down on this?
Brief Answer:
need to do respiratory physiotherapy
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic,
I can understand your concern...
In Bronchiectasis, cough with sputum is the most usual symptom.
In such cases, we usually recommend daily respiratory physiotherapy mainly with vibration (if Bronchiectasis is not small, peripheral and localized).
This procedure helps the secretions to drain and thus maintain bronchial hygiene.
When lying down you should stay with your chest side of the bronchiectasis upright to help the secretions drain due to the gravity.
Try to drink a lot of water too for fluidification of the secretions.
Hope to have been helpful for you.
Regards and feel free to ask me again
