Suggest Treatment For Bruise On Temple And Eye

Question: I actually ran into a door when i got up to go to the bathroom. The temple are and to my eye is very bruised. There is not loss of vision or pain, one bump, skin slightly broken above the temple. So far no totally black eye but I've been icing it off and on all day and using vaseline. Is there anything else I can do? It looks bad and I hate to be out in public around christmas with this bruise.

Hello and welcome,
Yikes - I am sorry you got this injury!
The mainstay of bruise prevention is icing the area as you are doing. I would also recommend taking Vitamin C today and for the next 2 days, at least 500 mg. Vitamin C is important for capillary integrity and this might help keep the blood from oozing into the soft tissue, which creates a bruise. Bromelain (extract from pineapples) can also help with this. Some Vitamin C supplements have both in them.
Arnica can be used for traumatized tissue (as Arnica gel, ointment or tincture).
I am concerned that you ran into a door. Were you still sleepy, or have you been having balance problems for awhile?

I have no balance problems, in fact I'm a yoga instructor! I usually leave the door open and last night for some reason, it was half closed and it was dark. Tonight, a night light for sure! Thanks for your help.
