Suggest Treatment For Bruised Ankle
Question: my husband hit his shin on Saturday with a golf club and now last night he noticed he has a bruise on his ankle that looks like pooled blood and his ankle is swollen. Is this something that requires a dr's visit? He is currently sitting at the hospital but it is an 8 hour wait and we would rather not jam up the hospital if it is something that is minor. What can we do for this?

He is able to walk around on it,yes. The injury is on his shin. The golf club hit his shin but his ankle is bruised
Brief Answer:
Injury seems to be non serious one
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It's good to see you.
Based on the symptoms it does not look to be serious Injury. Bruise at ankle is due to dependent swelling (oedema) or gravity assisted swelling secondary to Injury to shin.
My suggestion for him are-
1. Rest that is minimal walking with limb elevation and Ice fomentation.
2. To reduce pain and swelling he should have Ibuprofen along with prescription only drugs like trypsin/chymotrypsin to reduce swelling.
These Injuries are very painful to have and usually take 2-3 weeks to resolve.
Hope this helps and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
