Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.

If you are not sexually active then it is unlikely to be a STD.
You might be having a moderate urinary tract infection. In most cases amoxycillin helps. Amoxycillin must be taken for complete course of 5 to 7 days as prescribed by your doctor.

Other precautions to take are the following
1. Please drink lots of water and fluids and pass urine regularly. This will help flush out bacteria.
2. Avoid coffee, alcohol, and soft drinks containing citrus juices and caffeine until your infection has cleared. They can irritate your bladder and tend to aggravate your frequent or urgent need to urinate.
3. If yo are having lot of lower abdominal pain then apply a warm, but not hot, heating pad to your abdomen to minimize bladder pressure or discomfort.

If you do not get relief even after taking complete antibiotics course after 7 days then you might have to get urine culture and sensitivity test and take new antibiotics as per test results. Also a ultrasound scan might have to be done to assess your bladder and kidneys in case of persistent infection.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vive
