Brief Answer:
It is a neurosurgical emergency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Cauda equina syndrome is a neurosurgical condition caused by compression on several nerve roots after they leave the spinal cord by diseases such as massive herniated disc disease, tumors of the spine and/or nerves, etc.

It affects the strength and sensibility of the lower extremities, urination function too.

It is considered an emergency and, if suspected, MRI of the lumbar spine, neurosurgical consultation, and decompression at the EARLIEST is necessary.

So, if in doubt, please get evaluated as soon as possible.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
