Suggest Treatment For Cervical Facet Syndrome
Question:
I had ADR surgery awhile back, at the C-5 thru C-7 Level. I was
recently diagnosed with cervical facet Syndrome. I was offered a fusion to eliminate the Facet issues, However they want to do the fusion c-4 to c-7 This time and leave the Replacemnet discs intact. Can a fusion be done that way? Leaving the the replacment discs in the c- spine ?

Brief Answer:
Fusion can be done with hardware.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again XXXXXXX
Cervical fusion can be done leaving artificial discs if surgeons intend to use hardware to achieve it. Anterior fusion can be achieved with plate and screws, posterior fusion can be achieved using pedicular screws or hooks and rods.
Hope this helps. Best regards.

The c5 to c-7 level has The artificial discs, They want to do a fusion at the same surgical level. c-5 to c-7 But Intened to leave the discs intact without extracting them. Then do the Fusion at the same level c-5 to c-7
Is that typical to leave the discs in amd then fuse the same surgical level that the discs are located at ?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
The fusion can be done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again. Fusion can be done without removing the artificial discs if they don't cause any compression on neural structures.
Removing discs necessitates the filling of emptiness between vertebrae they leave.
This can be done with bone harvested from your body or with other synthetic material, so it is not necessary to expand further the surgery.
Hope this helps. Best regards.
