Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain While Jumping
Question: Hello, I have a 10 year old son who is complaining of chest pain (in the middle) when he jumps. He has no pain when he is not jumping nor trouble breathing. Only when he jumps. He has been playing on a trampoline for the last two days quite a bit and I am wondering if that might be related to his pain. Would this be perhaps a muscle issue?
Brief Answer:
Looks like a muscular pain
Detailed Answer:
Hi...pain or any specific movement is mostly muscular in origin. The play activity he had too could be a reason. I suggest you use Ibuprofen 8th hourly if pain is consistent otherwise... Nothing else need to be done.
As you have rightly pointed out, unless there is brethelessness or unconsciousness or high fever, you need not be worried about this.
Please feel free to ask If there is anything else.
Regards - Dr. Sumanth

Thanks Dr XXXXXXX
Kindly clarify. Should he take ibuprofen even when he does not have pain? To make any inflammation decrease or only if the pain comes again. For now, I have told him no exercise but rest for a week.
Thanks
Oh.. sorry. I see now, you mentioned "if pain is consistent." O.K., thanks
Is this common in children, by the way?
