Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Chiggers bite triggers inflammatory response that causes itching and rashes. This symptom should face away over a few days unless you do not induce infection by a scratch. Following measures will help to reduce the symptoms:

- Wash the affected area under running water with soap.
- Apply topical soothening agent like a calamine/caladryl lotion over the affected areas.
- Topical steroid cream like 2.5% hydrocortisone can give added relief.
- cetirizine one at night for 5 days. It will reduce the itching.

Along with the above treatment, you will be able to recover faster if you avoid scratching it or by trimming your nails shorter. Monitor the rash for few days. If you notice a growing bump with tenderness/pain or any signs of weeping wound, it can be a sign of infection. In such cases you would need antibiotic (topical/oral) and further management at a hospital.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
