Question: Hi Doc!
I had three chin surgeries (medpor implant placement intraorally and removal) in the past five years which have caused certain unpleasant issues.
Based on my email consultants with the super-specialiats - Dr. Eppley, Dr. Zide and Dr. Chuang, I might be a candidate for some or all of the following procedures:
1. Mentalis Muscle Resuspension
2. Genioplasty
3. Dermal Fat Grafting
4. Vestibuloplasty
Doc, I can find almost anything on Internet - there are hundreds of doctors doing hundreds of different procedures...but I've not found even a SINGLE doctor in XXXXXXX who mentioned about doing Mentalis Resuspension surgery. That's the only reason why I've to personslly ask the doctors...the way I'm asking you.
So, Doc, kindly let me know if you got enough experience to perform these procedures...If not, kindly suggest me SOMEONE who does so.
Regards, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic for your health related query.

Sad to know that you had implants which had to be removed with resultant scarring.

Mentalis repositioning is not a very major issue all plastic surgeons have done this at one point or the other when doing chin surgeries and reconstructions. But yes we rarely get the need for isolated chin lifts in our population.

Mentalis repositioning can be done and it corrects the chin malposition but doesn't do too much to the lip position.

If you are planning a genioplasty then we wouldn't do a mentalis repositioning before that usually the genioplasty will take care of the excess skin as we advance the bone.

I would not say whether I would do these surgeries for you as I have not evaluated you and I would not do the surgery just because it was suggested by someone else. Each surgeon approaches the situation differently.
Hence take some opinions by visiting surgeons personally rather than look for surgeons performing a said procedure.

Depending on the situation, the scarring, the tissue health, the bony dimensions and the look you are seeking a combination of procedures maybe required.

I would suggest that you visit a few plastic surgeons close to where you are and get yourself thoroughly evaluated and get a consensus on what can be done.

Pictures can give an idea but for a proper evaluation one needs to take into account the scarring the mucosa status, the previous surgical scars and the like.

Once again evaluate the problem and get it rectified, please do not be rigid and chase after a specific procedure.

Wishing you a early resolution to your problems and a speedy recovery.

Thank you
