Hi
Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.
I have gone through your query. If you give some more information like, how long you are having arthritis? Is it there in symmetric joints (like wrist joint of both hands or joints of both knees) ? Do you have any stiffness in joints after getting up in morning? If it is there how long it last? 1 hour or 2 hour or more?.
Are you having any other chronic diseases or metabolic problems like diabetes or hypothyroidism?
Ibuprofen and Naproxen are NSAID group drugs which are used to relieve pain and inflammation. It is given for symptomatic relief in Rheumatoid arthritis also. But if it is rheumatoid arthritis you might need DMARD group drugs which helps in decreasing the progression of disease activity along with these drugs. A rheumatologist consultation is needed also.
Please provide the above informations which can help me guide you better.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

I was a gymnast and played other sports in high school....in 66..67...68 I used to get quartasone shots in my shoulder joints... it has been progressive thru life, but now it is extremely unbearable. These last 5-6 yrs it has geometricaly gotten this bad. The pain is constant and after a 10hr work day I can barely move. I have slept on a hot pad since 95 every night. Muscles tighten up and want to lock.
Life should be a lot easier at this age. I'm at my wits end with the pain.
Do I see an orthopedic or a rheumatiod doctor ??
Consulting Rheumatologist will be good.

Hi
Thank you for your follow up query.
In such case consulting Rheumatologist will be better. But in case of unavailability for rheumatologist you can go for an orthopedician.
X rays of inflamed joints should be taken, Complete blood count including ESR, Serum uric acid, serum cholesterol, RA factor and ANA profile is usually done to rule out rheumatological diseases. ESR is elevated in most rheumatologic disorders like Rheumatoid arthritis and RA factor will be increased also.
Disease modifying anti rheumatoid drugs like methotrexate or sulfasalazine is usually very helpful in rheumatoid arthritis. Treatment with monoclonal antibodies will give better results but will be some what expensive. Infliximab and Rituximab are given for this.
Along with drug therapy physiotherapy and physical therapy will be helpful according to the recommendation of your rheumatologist.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
