Suggest Treatment For Cold Sores On The Lip

Question: Hello,

I am a 20 year old female with a fiancé of almost 4 years. I have not been with any other partner other than him for 4 years. I shaved my vagina about a week ago, and just recently about 4 days ago the inside of my labia minora has been stinging every time I urinate and it hits it. The area looks like raw spots with white skin, and after I googled numerous things I'm convinced its herpes. Another thing that scares me is that I was doing my friends makeup on XXXXXXX 1, 2017 and she told me in the middle of it, that she thought she had a cold sore on her lip. I had to go to the bathroom and I don't remember if I washed my hands before I wiped or not. But like I said before, I have been with the same partner for 4 years and never had any issues. I also was pregnant about 3 years ago, and I'm pretty sure they tested me for all STDs. Could this be a cut from my razor or something else?

Brief Answer:
Likely vaginitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
With the history it appears to be a possibly abrasion lesion and secondary vaginitis which can cause itching and pain during urination. However if you are mentioning about raw spots with white skin , that can be due to vaginal candida infection as well. please get a swab culture done to differentiate between herpes ( viral) and candida( fungal) or vaginitis( bacterial cause) ethology.
Please attach picture of the lesions for a better diagnosis.

I have no itching at all. The only time it burns is when I urinate and it hits the sore. Another thing I may add is, I recently started a new diet which requires me to drink green tea. The tea has me go to the bathroom to urinate as much as 10 times a day. I am frequently wiping in that area, could I have irritated it? I also recently started using a new body soap almost a month ago. I also got off of birth control almost 2 months ago. I have attached a couple pictures for you to see.

Brief Answer:
frictional ulcer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
These are frictional ulcers which have got infected and pus can be seen at the base. You need to be placed on antibiotics ( amoxycillin 500mg tds for 5 days ) and also neomycin ointment for thrice a day local application over the ulcers. You may get them prescribed by your physician. Keep the local area dry and do not use any soap locally , just use plain water to wash locally and dry and then apply the ointment. For pain relief you may use NSAIDS.Avoid any friction locally, wear loose under garments.

Thank you for your reply. So you are sure this is just a cut and not herpes at all? Should I be tested by my doctor? I was just very concerned because this has never happened before.

Brief Answer:
not herpes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
This seems staphylococcus infection and not herpes, however swab culture test should be done to establish sensitivity of the organism. You anyhow would have to visit your physician for a prescription so get it and start soon.
