Suggest Treatment For Cold, Throat Infection And Difficulty In Swallowing

Question: I have been diagnosed with infection of throat. I have severe swelling of the throat and difficulty in swallowing. Have pain even if I drink water. I also have cold.

1. I want to understand what precautions should I take for speedier recovery
2. Any specific foods that I should take and any specific food that I should avoid given that I have pain and difficulty in swallowing
3. How much time do you think it would take for full recovery

1. Acute Follicular tonsillitis should recover in a week or so with treatment.

2. Take rest and keep yourself well hydrated. Avoid cold, sour, spicy and fried food. A bland diet will be the best.

3. Inform your doctor if any new symptoms such as increased pain, body ache and fever are observed.

4. Your current medication is fine.
