Question: Hey doctor,

About 6 weeks ago now I came down with a cold which after about a day of having it I started to get clogged right ear. After about 2 weeks of the cold clearing up I got my ears cleaned out since the doctor saw quite a bit of wax. This in turn helped my hearing in general but I am still suffering from constant tinnitus in my right ear, feeling of fullness and late at nights after 12am and I get this weird sensation of the sound of my heartbeat in my ear. This is all occuring in one ear my right one. Is there much I can I got a referral to an ent which I havent had a chance to book as of yet is it also harmful gl be exposed to loud sounds with symptons?

Thanks in Advance!

Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube blockage

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
All the symptoms you have mentioned are due to eustachian tube blockage caused by nasal congestion.
The tinnitus is also due to this probably but better is to get an audiometry done if it doesn't subside with medicines.
Take a combination of levocetrizine and pseudoephedrine twice daily and xylometazoline nasal drops three times a day.
Take steam inhalation and chew a gum that will also help decongest the tube and relieve the symptoms.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only. Take all medicines for a week.
Avoid excessive XXXXXXX phone usage or ear phones usage.
You are always welcome with any further questions.
wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks and regards

Thanks for that doctor do you think it is worth seeing an ENT and getting tests done because of the length of time it has being going on? It seems to be a lot worse late at night as well would it also still be ok to use earplugs if I had to? I have a concert that I have to film on Saturday night for 4 hours would it be ok for me to use earplugs to protect my hearing?

Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube blockage

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up query.
It is always best to get examined.
It is advisable to avoid any noise exposure or trauma to the ear as it can lead to noise induced hearing loss.
You should definitely use the ear plugs if the exposure is unavoidable.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care

Thanks for that doctor another thing that I wanted to ask on different topic. The last week or so I have been waking up not being able to breathe out of my nose. They just feel really constricted and I cant breathe through them it just makes a wheezing kind of sound. After I get up and I walk around to get my heart pumping I'll eventually be able to breathe through one of my nostrils. What exactly could this be its only something that has been happening quite recently there also seems to be at random times a bit of mucus in my nose but not all of the time and it doesnt feel like a cold or anything with no other symptons? To add to that I also have this painful blind pimple on the outer edge of my nose that seems to be making it worse I have attached a picture of it is there anything I can really do about it?

Brief Answer:
Rhinitis and vestibulitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the information.
Nasal blockage at night is due to rhinitis. as you don't have symptoms otherwise, it is probably due to temperature at night. Get a x-ray paranasal sinuses done to rule out any nasal pathology. Use xylometazoline nasal drops at night.

The picture attached shows a acne on the vestibule. The tissue is right here so it pains a lot. Apply soframycin ointment and do hot fomentation. Avoid shaving for few days. You will be fine in a week.

All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only.

Any further questions are always welcome.

Take care
