Suggest Treatment For Constipation
I have just quit smoking so I'm thinking this could be the cause !

Sorry you have been having this trouble. What laxatives have you tried and for how long? At this point, given that you have tried laxatives without success, you may want to try a couple of Fleet's enemas. If that doesn't work, then it is time to go in to an urgent care clinic or your doctor for manual disimpaction.
The abdominal pains should resolve when you are able to go again.
Quitting tobacco doesn't normally cause constipation, but it is possible that your body is not used to having it's usual stimulant of nicotine.
After this current episode is over, increase fiber in your diet to help prevent a recurrence (vegetables, fruit).
