Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Question: I have a lot of mucus problems. I go to bed not feeling not to bad but when I' m sleeping I will snore loudly and a lot or I will wake up because I can't breath out and I'm mouth is open. In the morning I'm so tired that it takes an hour or so to get along with my day. Some times I can cough some up. I have a lot of sinus headaches with this. The doctors have not helped me at all plus I have not founded any help. I am also short of breath.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be chronic sinusitis.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having snoring with head-ache. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any nasal obstruction or post nasal drip ( sinus secretions trickle back into throat) ?
Is there any sequence of sneezes followed by running nose ?

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be recurrent sinusitis secondary to deviated nasal septum or allergy.

I suggest you to follow these measures to overcome your sinus issues.

1. Requires CT scan of para nasal sinuses (anatomical blockages and pathological extent), blood tests (absolute eosinophilic count, serum IgE- allergy). depending on the examination findings, treatment can be started.

2. Mean time, continue steam inhalation, start Mucolytics like syrup. ambroxyl 2Teaspoons twice daily. Take over the counter tab. tyelynol twice daily (best works for head-ache).

3. stop smoking, weight reduction (if you are obese), regular walk (helps in draining of secretions and opening of sinus ostea).

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
