Suggest Treatment For Cystic Fibrosis
Question: My nephew has situs inversus with a challenged immune system. He may be a candidate for a lung transplant. He is on oxygen 1oo% now. His doctors are now treating with cystic fibrosis drugs, and are suggesting a breathing vest. He is being evaluated today for a lung transplant. What is your evaluation?

I can understand your concern and i am sorry for your nephew
As you explain the history he is in severe condition now and i agree that the next step for him might be lungs transplant.
Before doing the transplant a patient should fulfil some criteria as follows :
Chronic needs for oxygen intake due to severe chronic respiratory failure
Repetitive severe inflammation of the lungs with cystic fibrosis.
The cardiac and renal condition should be normal or nearly normal
No infections like hepatitis B or C
But it would be better for me to have attached his CT of the lungs in order i would give more exact info for his actual situation.
