Suggest Treatment For Deep Vein Thrombosis In The Leg
Question: my left leg is swollen and my foot turn dark red, my thigh muscles are extremely sore in both legs. I have tried ice and heat and have been in bed with my leg up but nothing seems to work. any suggestions?
Brief Answer:
Possible DVT
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This is possible deep vein thrombosis and you should go to ER and have it checked at the earliest. You need to get done Doppler ultrasound and have anticoagulant therapy if my diagnosis is right. You should not apply ice, but put elastic compresses and avoid long sitting or standing.
Please do not delay any more
Wish you good health.
Regards

This has been happening for 4 years now, the first thing the doc does is order an ultrasound which always comes out negative for DVT. Is it possible that my Scitica nerve is responsible.
Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
If this is unilateral, it means just on one leg primarily affected, then it measures to be neurological and sciatic nerve may be involved. You should get done MRI scan and electroneurography in this case.
However, I've seen the pictures, and it still looks to Me like vascular issue and if Doppler was fine for so long duration, you should consider getting a CT angiography of the affected leg.

Your welcome.
This is definitely unilateral swelling and vascular issues or lymphedema should be ruled out and angiography is the best test for it.
