Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: I have degeneration in the cervical discs in my neck. Have had chronic pain for years. I can cope with the neck pain but not the excruciating headaches I get which leave me feeling quite unwell even when they clear. Many thanks XXXX

Brief Answer:
Paracetamol-Codeine or Paracetamol-Tramadol are combinations worth looking into.

Detailed Answer:

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. First there is need to recognize source and type of headaches.

If you are diagnosed with Cervicogenic headache, then here are the possible treatment options:

1. NSAID ( you can't use them I read?).

2. Analgesic drugs combinations ( Paracetamol-Codeine or Paracetamol-Tramadol if you aren't allergic to them). These kinds of medications are prescription meds, you will need to discuss these medications face to face with your doctor.

3. Greater and lesser occipital nerves stimulation.

I suggest you to consult with a neurologist above mentioned possibilities.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
