Question: My baby boy is 7 months 12 days. He is having loose motions from 23rd of May. I consulted doctor on 24th and suggested enterogermina and zincovite. The frequency of motions reduced from 15 to 5 but daily he will pass only 2 to 3 stools at XXXXXXX He got diaper rash also and suggested proctogard and 2% lox. This diaper rash also reduced but the part around anus has some reddish pimple kind of things yet. So to be on the safer side we went to doctor again on 29th and she suggested to give enterogermina for 3 more days 2 times a day and zincovite and if the stools bcome loose or pass blood in stool she asked to give ziprax 100 dry. I saw a drop of blood in stool ( also confused this is from poop or that pimple around the anus though they r not bleeding) on 31st nyt and i started ziprax 100 and from 1st mrng he is passing watery stools and more often than before. The pimples around the anus area also didnt reduce as am applying vaseline petroleum jelly whenever he is passing stool as suggested by doctor. I am giving him a bit diaper free time as i cannot leave him without diaper as we r staying in hotel for some reason. He is on nanpro from 2 months onwards and born at 35 weeks. Baby is active n normal. Also we shifted from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX on 18th of May. I am very much worried about why these long motions are there still after taking medicine. As of now i am giving him cerelac veg khichidi and nanpro as i dnt have anyother options here.please suggest some good medicine so that his stools are in control.

Brief Answer:
Get his stool routine and culture done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns but don't worry. I would recommend you to get his stool routine and culture done so that we can check whether the reason for his prolonged illness is a bacterial, parasitic or viral in origin. You may post his reports for my reference.

In the meantime, after giving samples for test start him on racecadotril granules (10) thrice daily, Syp. Cefixime (100) 2.5 ml twice daily and continue with zincovite and enterogermina. Keep him well hydrated by ORS along with regular feeds. Banana and curd can be added to his diet for early recovery.

Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
