7 Month Old Child, Watery Yellow Stools, Vomiting, Congestion. Taking Pedialyte. Cure?

My 7 months old son has a watery yellow (with seeds) poop in his diapear and wondered if I should give him medicine or anything I can do? I took him to the doctor yesterday since he was throwing up and has a little cold (congested and cough ) but no fever. I gave him pedialyte for his vomiting and it worked. I started giving his formula again today and today he started having the diahrrea.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

If your child is passing more than 5-6 loose stools in 24 hours than a stool routine examination and treatment is warranted. It is good that vomitings have stopped.

Ensure that bottle hygiene is maintained as you mention that he started having diarrhoea once you re-started formula feed.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

RKK

Hi,
Continue to give the pedialyte for loose motion also.
After every loose stool give 1-2 oz of pedialyte.
Check whether child is passing urine.
Mostly this is viral.
No need for antibiotics or any other medicine.
Watch out for dehydration!
Good luck
