Brief Answer:
Providac essential. Antibiotics, depends on severity and pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Antibiotics are usually not necessary for one day loose motion. However, if necessary, that is once of the better medications, which can be used. Twice daily (12 hours apart) for 5 days is necessary. If spasmodic pain is associated or dysentery i.e. blood in diarrhea is present, antibiotics will be necessary.

2. Better would be to start on probiotics like Providac twice daily along with good amount of water with oral rehydration salts. Good nutrition with low spicy diet is essential. Plenty of water is necessary.

3. Possibly viral diarrhea at present. Antibiotics might not be helpful.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank you for your quick help. I shall begin Providac for now and follow your instructions in Point 2 above, under what symptoms would you recommend to begin Ciplox-Tz?

Actually, these medications are being taken by my sons at home, who also have got similar symptoms in past couple of weeks. So only I have got to know names of these medicines. Now, I guess symptoms have come to me from them. They have almost recovered well with these two medications.

Thanking you. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Viral diarrhea - not necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for asking again.

I do not expect you to be suffering from the same infectious disease, unless you are suspecting feco-oral spread. It would have been more immediate rather than so late.

However, as i told you earlier, unless you have abdominal pain or blood in stools - or atleast 3 days of continuous diarrhea, not under control, you would not require Ciplox-Tz. If you wish to start Ciplox-Tz, no major harm will be done for your body from this antibiotics. If you start it, always complete the course of 5 days.

Viral diarrhea will stop with or without antibiotics. Important thing to be well hydrated along with good nutrition. Also Providac with oral rehydration salts will be necessary.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
