Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea When Diagnosed With Gastrointestinal Infections
Question: Hi, I was diagnosed with a GI tract infection from a doctor from this website. I had diarrhea lower intestine was sore. Doctor told me to take Pepto-Bismol and Probiotics. I started feeling better. But now its sore again. Is there anything else I could try?
Brief Answer:
How is your diet?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
Soreness without other intestinal symptoms raises concerns of irritable bowel disease. For now, I will recommend that you keep a food diary to see if there is a link between various food type and your symptoms.
I will recommend pepto-bismol and increased fluid intake at this time. No antibiotics and no probiotics. Also, avoid mixing several different food types.
i Hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

A little over a week ago. I had diarrhea for 3 days. The diarrhea gone but when I eat. It seems little maybe 10 minutes later I need a bowel movement. The last doctor said to take probiotics. And you said don't? Also I guess I do have intestinal symptoms.Gas,diarrhea. I do have IB. But it never lasted this long
Brief Answer:
I have no reasons for or against probiotics!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Probiotics are of no added or harmful value to me. While i will not recommend them, I will not strongly deny as well. However, am sure they will make no difference in your symptoms.
For gas, try to avoid excess leafy foods such as spinach, lettuce, broccoli, lentils, beans, cabbage, etc. Above all all, avoid mixing several different food types at once.
I wish you well. Keep me updated!

Less likely to be a GI infection!

can tight fitting close around the waste area have any affect on symptoms?
Brief Answer:
NO!

Hi,
This will not affect symptoms of GI disease of IB. However, this is not healthy as it causes unnecessary burden on the soft tissue and blood vessels traversing this area.
I wish you well.
