Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Urinating

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: I have a normal prostate (size and health). No sex problems; however, my urine flow feels restricted over the past 3 years and seems to be getting gradually worse.
It is not a frequent urination problem or "dribbling" problem.
It almost is like a full funnel that has a very a small opening.

Brief Answer:
stricture, investigations, Surgical management

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
You have posted your query in a wrong specialty, i have tried my best to give the answer, but finally you have to consult a urologist and take opinion.
As far as the restricted urine flow is concerned, I have two possibilities,
The first possibility can be a stricture and the second possibility can be stenosis.
These two stricture may be caused by inflammation or scar tissue from surgery, disease, or injury.
If I am your treating doctor, I would suggest you to get micturating cystourethrogram, Post-void residual (PVR) volume, Retrograde urethrogram and urine cytology to rule out any infection and to check the volume of the urine.
I would also suggest you to consult a urologist and get a complete general physical examination done and rule out any pathology.
After finding out the exact cause we can treat accordingly(like cystoscopy or inserting a dilating device or an open urethroplasty).
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
If any queries are there, you can reply me back.
