Suggest Treatment For Dizziness In A Diabetic
different possible causes
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
You experienced vertigo, this is the term used to describe either the sensation of a person spinning in relation to their environment or the environment spinning.
It is most commonly related to conditions of the inner ear though there are other causes as well.
The inner ear causes are: (1) vestibular neuronitis- this is the most common inner ear cause. The spinning lasts for hours usually and there may be a recent history of an infection
(2)BPPV- benign paroxysmal positional vertigo- these episodes lasts for seconds usually and occur with certain head positions. For example you find if you tilt your head in a certain direction, the vertigo gets worse
(3)meniere's disease- there is hearing loss and tinnitus (abnormal noises of the ear) associated with the vertigo
Rarely there can be more serious causes.
Assessment by your doctor can determine the exact cause.
There are medications that can temporarily help vertigo, used for a few days only because they stop the body from healing themselves.
Eg dramamine, valium, meclizine, metoclopramide, lorazepam
BPPV is also treated by performing a move called the Epley maneuver.
Summary: (1) three main causes- vestibular neuronitis, bppv, menieres
(2)diagnosed by assessment
(3)medications used for a short time
(4)if it is BPPV, epley maneuver would help
(5)meniere's treated by low salt diet and sometimes diurectics
(6)vestibular neuronitis- medication for a short time
