Suggest Treatment For Double Ear Infection

Question: In 2010 I had a double ear infection. After two different rounds of antibiotics, my family physician put me on a low dose of an antibiotic which "cured" the infection. At that same time, my ears started ringing - it sounds like crickets in the summer time. The ringing has not stopped. I notice it is worse when the weather changes and/or the gland in my neck (under my jaw bone) is swollen. Most days I do not notice the ringing but other days it is very noticeable. It has not affected my hearing.

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having ringing in ears.


Based on your clinical details, it occurs to be Eusthacian tube dysfunction or age related deafness.

Eusthacian tube ( tube connecting the middle ear and nose) dysfunction occurs with episodes of cold or sore throat ( winter season with lymph node enlargement).


I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and get detailed ent examination, otoscopy (status of ear drum), audiometry (eusthacian tube dysfunction, type and degree of hearing loss). depending on the examination reports further treatment is required accordingly.

Mean time, do steam inhalation, do valsalva exercises (watch YouTube video).
