Suggest Treatment For Double Vision In A BP Patient
Question: I have had symptoms of double vision since last Monday, my doctor gave me a new BP medication which has brought my BP to normal levels but I continue to have these symptoms. I have also had two eye examinations which did not reveal an ocular problem. My doctor asked me to return in two weeks but I am very concerned about my current state. The condition seems to be more pronounced when I am active and moving in well lit environments and less pronounced when I am idle in darker conditions. I can sit and work on a computer. Should I report to a clinic or emergency center immediately? I am confused.
Brief Answer:
Cerebral CT scan recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I have been through your question and understand your concern.
Double vision, called diplopia is a neurological condition. It is caused by damage or injury of one of the nerves or muscles of the eye. You should schedule a neurological consult to evaluate your ocular movement and see at what direction the diplopia is more pronounced. That would help focus on the possible cause. A CT scan at least,(better an MRI) is recommended to rule out any organic or structural damage causing this condition. It is not an emergency but you should have a neurological consult soon.
Hope this helps. Wish you the best health.
