Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.
I can understand your concern for pityriasis lichenoides and related flaking over the same. After diligently examining the area in the pictures let me reassure you that it is quite normal and natural to have flaking in cases of pityriasis lichenoides.
I quite often see your kind of cases where there is dryness of skin and scaling or flaking is seen. I reassure you that it is very normal and usual to have flaking in pityriasis lichenoides.
For the prevention part I suggest my patients to apply an emollient or moisturizing lotion. I always guide my patients to apply the emollient just immediately after bath or after wetting the skin with a towel. I guide to my patients to apply any of these just after bathing when the skin is still draping. It preserves the natural water in the body. It gives natural moisturization and remains for longer time. Do not use any strong soap or detergents over skin.
I also suggest my patients to avoid synthetic garments. As these synthetic garments causes more dryness and could irritate the skin. Wear cotton clothes and avoid synthetic or woolen garments in direct contact of skin.
An important thing is to eat healthy diet containing lot of Vitamin A and Vitamin C in form of fruits and green leafy vegetables along with sprouts. Drink plenty of liquids everyday.
I hope this information will help you. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help.
With good health wishes,
