Suggest Treatment For Dry, Red, Cracked Rashes Around Neck

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: I have developed a dry, red, cracked rash around my neck (it is a little painful too). This is the second time. The first time was about three or four weeks ago and it eventually disappeared and smooth skin returned (I used all kinds of ointments on it). I have not really changed my diet, I have been doing a lot of deep breathing and yoga but don't think that would create such a condition. What is this? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
It can be herpes zoster.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be herpes zoster. This is caused by same virus which cause chicken pox. If you send a picture of it then it will be more helpful in identifying.

Antiviral drugs like acyclovir or famcyclovir will be helpful. You can also use acyclovir ointment for local application. Analgesics like ibuprofen can be taken for pain. Applying calamine lotion will be soothing also.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
