Posted on Wed, 24 Jun 2015
Question: I have tasting problems in which I cannot taste foods very well and have odd tastes in my mouth that vary over time and distort the taste of foods. I have not had any meaningful diagnosis from my family doctor, ENT, GI and endocrinology specialists. While the condition is not disabling, it is very disagreeable does not make eating an enjoyable experience. I have had this condition for about a year.

Brief Answer:
neurological problem has to be evaluated

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
I have read the medicines that you have mentioned.
I think I would suggest that you try to get a MRI BRAIN.
I suggest this because in the absence of a possible lesion in the brain similar symptoms often come up as well.
I think when you have already tried medicines of other causes , it would be good to rule out the possibility of a neural disorder.
meeting up with the neurological specialist may be a good idea too.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
