Brief Answer:
Diet, exercise & medications are important in management of diabetes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX

In such a case I usually advise following investigations -
- Complete blood count.
- HbA1c
- Lipid Profile
- Renal function test
- Liver function test.
- Urine examination
- Ultra TSH.

Also there is a need for detailed history taking & physical examination which help in confirming diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes & associated morbid conditions like obesity, blood pressure problem.

Considering normal heart & kidney function I may suggest -

Diabetic diet :
You should consult near by dietitian who can plan diet for you considering your height & weight (BMI) & food habits.

Exercise :
Atleast 150 min per week of moderate degree physical activity is recommended.

Medications:
In such case I may suggest Tablet containing Metformin 500mg starting with one tablet a day with gradual increase in dose to 3 tablets a a day in divided dose over a period of 7 to 10 days.
To repeat fasting & post-prandial blood sugar levels after 4 weeks accordingly further changes in medications can be done.

Hope this helps you.

Brief Answer:
Type 2 Diabetes is a hereditary disease. Stress increases blood sugar level

Detailed Answer:
Sorry for detailed response.

Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is around 28 denotes overweight.

I may suggest
- Exercise : Daily 30 to 45 min brisk walk.
- Diet : Avoid potatoes, sugar in any form. Can take 1 small bowl rise with lunch avoid night time rise.
Better to consult near by dietician for better advise who can plan diet chart considering your food habits.
You can take drink occasionally 1-2 pegs at a time.
- I am practicing Allopathy only no experience with other XXXXXXX I have already suggested medication in previous answer.
Whatever XXXXXXX you use better to monitor blood sugar levels once in a month or 2 months.
- Yes diabetes is a hereditary disorder. There is a increased chances of diabetes in children of diabetic parents.
Stress increases blood sugar levels.

Hope this helps you.
