Question: Doctor,
I am 29 M , had diagnosed with mild fatty liver about 10 months back. I drastically reduce my alcohol intake after that , may be I had few drinks during our office get together, 3-4 times in last 10 months

I am frequently monitoring my Liver function and all other elemnts came down to normal ranges except SGPT which is still in mid 50s , 56 to be exact. I am not taking any medicine . Is this some thing I have to worry or do I need to start any medication ? My triglyceride is also too high 337 . Please help me

Brief Answer:
Reduce Fat Intake

Detailed Answer:
hi

Thanks for writing in

Considering your age it is not advisable that you consume alcohol - it is better you stop taking alcohol. As long as you don't quit alcohol completely, I will be worried about elevated liver enzymes. Once you quit alcohol and triglyceride is also controlled, SGPT will come down over a period of time. You need to see a good physician who can help you control lipid levels.

A hepatoprotective agent like Hepatogard could be of some help

Also avoid fried and fatty meals

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot doctor, will consult a doctor to control lipid levels and I am stopping the alcohol completely,

Hope the SGPT 56 is not so dangerous / life threatening ?? or Do I need to take any medication to control SGPT ?

The SGPT was 70-80 When I was diagnosed with mild fatty liver, it reduced a bit to 43 (border line ) and then to 56 in my last test. but will it be possible to reverse completely to the normal level ?

The SGPT levels are not dangerous

You need not panic but do not be careless also

A hepatoprotective like Hepatogard as mentioned earlier can help
