Question: I'm concerned about a left non painful axillary node. 4.1cm. For 2 years I've had a sore lump on my left breast. 2 mammos were negative and i was told its fibrous tissue. on the last mammo they did an ultrasound and came across an enlarged lymph node unrelated to the painful lump I felt. I have HTN, smoke cigarettes for 20 yrs. 44F, mother of 4. what are to odds it could be a benign something, anything?? I'm very worried. thank you

Brief Answer:
It is due to infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The left non painful axillary lump is most probably due to infection and not due to cancer and there is nothing to worry. 95% of chance there is for it being benign

One week course of an antibiotic with your doctors advise should resolve the enlarged lymph node

If the lump increases in size or becomes painful then you have to do a biopsy test to rule out malignancy
