Question: What are the causes of an enlarged uterus. I am 53. Yo still get regular periods and get an annual Pap smear

There are some cuases of enlarged uterus:
1. Fibroid.
2. Endometrial hyperplasia.
3. Uterine and cervical cancer.

What did your ultrasound reports say?

What were your pap smear results?

I would advise you to go for endometrial biopsy.

My Pap smear was clear. My HPV results were slightly abnormal. My US results shoes a 5 cm growth in 4 months. I get a regular period.

What are the treatments for an enlarged uterus. My Ob/Gyn is sendings for an MRI. What is she looking for?

MRI is to know the extent of probable uterine mass.

Hello,

sorry for late response,

kindly attach ultrasound report so that I can tell you in detail about exact pathology.

If your ultrasound report is showing any mass like fibriod,then treatment depends on size of it.smaller size will regress itself because you are near to your menopause.bigger size needs to be operated.

If ultrasound report shows endometrial hyperplasia,then endometrial biopsy is needed to rule out cancer. here again treatment is surgery (removal of uterus)

MRI will confirm diagnosis and will tell extent of growth in surrounding area.
