oleptal 450 ine tab at night.
Fits can be I understand be controlled with medicine but what happen to the injury
What is generally the line of treatment in such cases.. what precautions to take
Brain changes due to old injury can't be reversed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
Brain MRI show old encephalomalacia with gliotic changes which have probably resulted from old injury.I am afraid to say that, nothing can be done to reverse these changes. These changes reflect dead tissue due to injury. It has to be left as such.
Regarding management,
In such cases,we usually focus to treat seizures or control seizures with medicines. If somehow, seizures are not controllable with medicines, then surgery is one option.
If the seizures are well controlled and the child does not have any other problem or neurological deficit-then,we say that the child is fine.
Overall,if the child is fine in normal life, old gliotic changes are just a MRI finding and should not be the cause of worry.
On the other side,if the child is symptomatic, symptoms have to be treated and not the gliotic changes. So,in any case, treatment is of the child's symptoms and not the MRI.
