Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.

I have been through your clinical history. I would suggest the following:

Drinking plenty of water in the day time.

You can take a mucolytic syrup which will help to thin out secretions. then you will be able to remove secretions with ease. Rules of the website prevent me from prescribing a particular drug.

Nebulisation with a mucolytic agent twice a day will also help to thin out the secretions.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.

Dr. Thakker,

Thank you for the advice on my coughing up mucus every morning. Any idea what could be causing it? I am getting good sleep now with the CPAP, but was wondering if I have a tonsil or saliva gland problem? Or the CPAP machine is not set right? Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Dear XXXXXXX

To know the exact cause of the mucus production:

I would like to know if you smoke?

I would recommend you to have the following tests:

HRCT and pulmonary function tests to rule out an underlying COPD. this condition is associated with excessive mucus production.

Also the air from CPAP machine tends to be dry. This dries up the entire respiratory lining and the mucus gets thick and dry.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
