Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. The cause for suffering of short duration and of sudden onset is hamstring muscle pull/spasm .
Is there any bruise or warm to touch?
I would like to treat you with - hot water fomentation, muscle stretching exercises, ibuprofen along with muscle relaxant drug thiocolchicoside. Get it prescribed from your local doctor.
Hope this helps and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

No bruising. But hot to touch. It's both legs and most uncomfortable sitting down or lying down. Most pressure is behind knee caps.
