Suggest Treatment For Extreme Spinal Stenosis And Scolosis
Question: I have a herniated disk at L2. In July, 1213 I had rods and screws inserted in L3-5 at XXXXXXX Neurological institute for pain raiding down my left upper lateral leg to my patella. Now, since December, 2013 the L2 herniated disk occurred after significant fall, causing pain in the right lateral upper lower extremity from the middle groin to the patella and muscle weakness, with frequent loss of balance. Oral steroids for 20 days improved the muscle weakness and allowed me to improve movement and balance with PT. Should I continue PT or schedule surgery to "shave" the herniated disk? I also had extreme spinal stenosis and scolosis.
Brief Answer:
Continue physiotherapy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam,
Thanks for your query.
You should try first conservative management in form of medicine and physiotherapy. As these are helpful in your case, I suggest you to continue physiotherapy.
Beside this, you must avoid any activity that aggravates the condition, like bending forward and lifting heavy objects, sitting long hours on computer, inappropriate sitting posture, etc.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
