Question: one year baby girl is suffering fever from yesterday. We have given crocin suspension 5ml thrice already everytime temperature goes beyond 100.5. Her temperature XXXXXXX to 102 at midnight. It is also hard to give her 5 ml crocin as she throws the syrup at the first attempt. Please tell us what could be the reason for such fever and what can we do best. Her current temperature is 100. Is it still fever or sign of returning fever.

Brief Answer:
try drops

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Fever is usually viral in kids at this age and it will take 3 to 5 days to settle. It is body's fight to kill the microorganisms. You can try crocin drops 1.5 ml every 6 hours which is safe and easier to give than the syrup, because the volume isless.
If the child is otherwise active, playful, feeding well and passing urine atleast 6 times daily, don't worry, the fever will settle soon.
Ensure you give her plenty of liquids.

If fever doesn't improve after a couple of days , get her checked by your nearby doctor .

local physician suggested MOXCLAV BD for six days 3.5ml twice daily as this fever is suspected from cough infection possibly. Let us know if this is antibiotic. We don't see any sign of cough and from today morning body temperature is below 100c. Should we still give this antibiotic.
