Suggest Treatment For Fever When Taking Doxycyline

Question: hi I had a surgical abortion when I was 8 weeks and 3 days pregnant 2 days ago and I have been taking the antibiotic doxycyline twice a day like I am supposed to but an hour ago I have started to get a fever. I thought doxycyline would prevent me from getting an infection but could it be an infection?

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
A mild rise in body temperature 2 days after D&C is not likely to be due to an infection. This can be a reactive rise in temperature due to hormonal changes and weakness. A mild viral infection is also a possibility. Right now you can start with Tylenol and continue with Doxycycline. If there is no foul smelling discharge from vagina then you should not worry. This will subside in a few days.
