Suggest Treatment For Fluctuations In BP Readings Despite Having Ramipril
Question: I have been taking Ramipril for a month. My bp was in the range of 150/100.. Had Anxiety and insomnia...insomnia is now getting better as well as the anxiety as I'm seeing a psychologist. I am now getting readings of 132/90 at midday but in the morning I feel exhausted and dizzy. Had a first reading of 170/110 but then it rapidly dropped to 146/98 within 7 minutes with the third reading.
My question is: is this a cause for concern? Secondly: my GP wants me to increase the dose from 5mg to 7.5mg which I'm not too keen on. What are your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Dose increase seems to be a reasonable option.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I understand your query and concern.
Inadequate drug dosage leads to fluctuations in your blood pressure thereby your symptoms.
So, I advise you to take Ramipril 7.5mg single bed time dose or 2.5mg day time followed by 5mg bed time. Discuss regarding this with your treating doctor.
Monitor your blood pressure after 1 week if still your BP is high you need to use 10mg Ramipril ( 5mg+5mg) by consulting your doctor.
Restrict your salt to <6mg per day and Exercise regularly.
Hope I have answered your query at the moment,
Post your further queries if any,
Thank you.
