Brief Answer:
Resolving Follicular Tonsillitis. Get a throat swab and strep test done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The image shows tonsillitis, probably a resolving follicular tonsillitis.

2. This may be viral or bacterial in origin, however it is advisable to go in for a throat swab to rule out a strep throat.

3. Your current medication is fine. I would recommend an OTC medicated oral rinse. Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic medication will help control the discomfort in the neck.

4. Upload the throat swab culture report either here or directly at bit.ly/Dr-Sumit-Bhatti

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards

Thank you! A Strep rest was done and came back negative. The doctor at the clinic (not my gp) suggested she do a culture test (quite expensive)

I opted to take the medication for 10 days and then re-evaluate.

Do you agree with my course of action?

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Yes, you may complete the course of the current medication and then re-evaluate.

2. Request supportive medication. If you feel better, no further treatment is requiring.
