Suggest Treatment For Frequent Blocked Nose And Cough
Chronic sinusitis...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
I have gone through the query, examined the images thoroughly, understood your problem and I will try my best to help you with this issue.
1. The description given by you indicates that you could be suffering from chronic sinusitis.
2. The lump of tissue seen is the dried and accumulated secretions inside the sinus and the nasal cavities. When you blow the nose harshly, the tiny blood vessels break-off and stains the secretions.
3. Due to the nasal block, you develop mouth breathing. Mouth breathing causes drying up of all the water content in the throat, leaving it irritated and sore.
4. As you have already got the CT scan done, the findings would definitely guide us in the further management and confirming the diagnosis.
5. You can upload the images of the CT scan to YYYY@YYYY with attention to Dr. Naveen Kumar N, ENT specialist.
6. Meanwhile you can try the following:
a. Drink plenty of warm water. Warm water helps in hydrating the tissues and loosening out the thick nasal secretions.
b. Try using saline nasal spray. Saline also helps in keeping the nasal mucosa moist and loosening the secretions.
c. A mucolytic such as ambroxol or bromhexine thins out the nasal and sinus secretions, thus helping in easy clearance of the same.
d. Intranasal steroid nasal spray (such as fluticasone or momentasone), decongests the nasal mucosa and aids in ventilation of the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinus.
e. Do steam inhalation 2 -3 times in a day for a couple of minutes.
f. Avoid smoking, chilled food and beverages.
g. Finally, avoid forceful blowing of nose.
Hope this answers your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
Regards
Dr. Naveen Kumar N.
