Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
You seem to be suffering from Osteoarthritis, that is age related wear and tear of joints.
Th treatment suggested by your doctor is aimed at treating osteoporosis, and it is not going to help you much, but yes, if you ignore the side effects, these injections would help you in strengthening your bones.
My recommendations for you would be:
1. To take Vitamin D supplement
2. To go for quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises to help with knee pain. You can take help of a physiotherapist
3. You may discuss with your doctor for Calcitonin nasal spray for osteoporosis
4. To take supplements like Chondroitin sulphate that may help you in osteoarthritis.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
Dr Anshul Varshney , MD
I am uploading two reports, relating to kidney tests. My physician says that there is mild decrease in GFR and if you proceed with Rokfos Injection , (which is not required in his opinion on account of BMD Test report) then kidney problem may arise, resulting in moderate decrease in GFR. My Orhos doctor says this is necessary , before treating primary osteoarthritis of left shoulder. another doctor has even recommended surgery, which I cannot afford at this stage due to personal reasons.
I am in a fix. Kindly specifically advise me whether I should go for Rokfos or not.
I would not recommend.
Detailed Answer:
Hi. Saving your Kidney is more important then going for Rokfos injection which may or may even not benefit you.
You may discuss with your doctor to prescribe your Ibandronate acid tablets for the purpose of Osteoporosis. However if your BMD is normal, then Rokfos is not going to help much.
So, my recommendations would be to avoid it.
Please share my opinion with your doctor before you act upon it.
