Posted on Thu, 9 Jul 2015
Question: Hello,

I am 25 years old and I had fungal infection in my groin, waist and butt 12 years back. I used anti-fungal cream Betamil GM and rashes has gone. There is no itching/irritation from last 12 years. But after the infection, my skin turned to black color. Right now i don't have any rashes/wounds/itching/irritation but I just not happy with those black marks. Is it due to hiperpigmentation or something else. Please provide me a solution to get rid of black marks around my waist, groin and butt.

Brief Answer:
I suggest adequate treatment with Oral as well as topical antifungals.

Detailed Answer:
hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcare magic.

I have gone through your question and I understand your concern regarding pigmentation on groins, waist and buttocks.

This pigmentation is certainly post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from previous bouts of fungal infection and is quite common in those who have frequent recurrences or in those who are inadequately treated and continue to have low grade infection.

Usually the pigmentation fades away with time provided there are no repeated flares or recurrences of fungal infection after an adequate treatment.

If I was the treating doctor I would first like to treat you for an adequate duration with Oral as well as topical antifungals. This would take care of any persisting low grade fungal infection.
I would suggest weekly oral fluconazole tablets for 4-6 weeks along with topical antifungals e.g clotrimazole+beclomethasone combination cream (candid-B cream) for 4 weeks.

These are prescription products and should be used under supervision of a doctor. I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your vicinity for a clinical examination and for the needful.
