Management & Clarification
Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting with your health concern and following points needs consideration:
1. It commonly occurs in middle aged women [64 years] who have attained menopause.
2. mainly affects vulva in female and penis in male [his examination along with treatment is also necessary, although it is uncommon in men and is not contagious but still one should have check up]
3. Since itching/irritation is there make sure to rule out high blood sugar [diabetes], atrophic vaginits, taeniasis, thrush, scabies, lice in pubic hair.
4. since if left untreated or healing is delayed, changes in the vulval skin [scarring] makes the entrance to the vagina narrower thereby preventing sexual intercourse [both as a result of pain and/or infection] i.e. frequent UTI [urinary tract infections]
PS. see your attending physician/gynecologist every 4-6 months, since scarred skin is more likely to develop into skin cancer.
5. Since it is thought to be an autoimmune disease, thus one has to mainly rule out autoimmune thyroid problem, vitiligo?
6. Local home measures which you can institute is/are:
i. Local vaginal wash with 'TRIPHALA KWATH' or lukewarm water mixed with borax
ii. Tampon of 'shatdhaut ghrita'
iii. Emuaid is a FDA registered drug having anti fungal properties, is non steroidal and acting as natural, anti inflammatory ointment which helps soothe your skin but only using it will not solve your problem.
iv. Avoid: black gram, onion, garlic, brinjal, alcohol, pickles, sour curd, mustard oil, jaggery, spices, day time sleeping, late night awakening, excess physical exertion, excess grief/sex/fasting.
v. Take XXXXXXX XXXXXXX vati along with trifla powder with XXXXXXX warm water
PS. to control irritating itching try using prescription anti histamines and since skin and nervous system has common embryological origin thus take either mild tranquilizer [from allopathy stream] or XXXXXXX Rasayan [from Ayurveda stream]
